Board of Public Works Approves Investments to Promote the Future of Thoroughbred Racing in Maryland

Annapolis, Md. — Governor Wes Moore and the Board of Public Works today approved a demolition package for Pimlico Race Course and the acquisition of Shamrock Farm in Carroll County to serve as the premier training center hub of thoroughbred racing in Maryland. The actions mark a critical step forward in growing local and statewide economies, in addition to promoting the future of Thoroughbred racing in the state.

Maryland Stadium Authority Statement On The Passing Of Herbert J. Belgrad

Our hearts are heavy with the news of the passing of Herbert J. Belgrad, the first Chair of the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA). In 1986, Mr. Belgrad was appointed Chair and served at the newly formed MSA for nine years. Among his many achievements as Chair, Mr. Belgrad oversaw the construction of Oriole Park at Camden Yards and represented the city in expansion meetings which helped return football to Baltimore.
