Vern Conaway

Vernon Conaway, Vice President for Public Safety and Security with the Maryland Stadium Authority has over 30 years experience in public safety and security. He currently holds senior leadership responsibilities for safety, security and parking operations at the Camden Yards Sports Complex, and oversees security planning and coordination for M&T Bank Stadium and Oriole Park.

Prior to joining MSA in 2011, Conaway spent 25 years with the Maryland State Police, where as Assistant Chief, he led the Criminal Investigation, Homeland Security and Intelligences Bureaus. Conaway served on the Governor’s Homeland Security Joint Executive Committee and led the project establishing Maryland’s three regional law enforcement information centers that support the state’s intelligence fusion center.

A Certified Sport Security Professional (CSSP) through the University of Southern Mississippi's National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4), as well as a Certified Homeland Protection Professional (CHPP) through the National Domestic Preparedness Coalition, Conaway has been recognized as an expert by Maryland courts in safety and security issues.

Conaway holds a Master of Science degree in Management from Johns Hopkins University and is an adjunct professor with the university’s Division of Public Safety where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on management of information, strategic application of technology, and leveraging social networks for public safety and security organizations.
