In March 2023, the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA) published the market assessment and economic impact analysis related to the recently discovered St. Mary’s Fort in Historic St. Mary’s City as requested.
In January 2025, MSA issued a solicitation to select a highly qualified Architect/Engineer (A/E) design firm to provide Preliminary Design services for a proposed new boutique hotel and conference center to support the Fort to 400 initiative in Historic St. Mary’s City, MD. The preliminary design will include conceptual design, site assessment, archeological, environmental, and geotechnical analysis, cost estimate, and other services. During this preliminary design phase, the A/E will work closely with MSA and other Project Team members to analyze the overall viability of the proposed project.
St. Mary’s County has committed $250,000 to fully fund the cost of the preliminary design effort through the use of funding appropriated by the state and assigned to the MSA in House Bill 201 (2023) and House Bill 1298 (2023).
