Hiring Range: $16.54-$20.68 depending upon qualifications. State salary rules may apply for promotions and transferees.

NATURE OF WORK
This is a contractual position responsible for ensuring the safety and security of visitors to the Camden Yards Sports Complex during National Football League (NFL) games, Major League Baseball (MLB) games and other special events. Selected applicants will be expected to provide unparalleled security services while exhibiting exceptional customer service and communication skills. Work hours vary and will require evenings, weekends and holidays in accordance with the home game schedules of the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles.  Multiple candidates will be selected for this position. 

EXAMPLES OF WORK
The duties listed below are intended as illustrations of various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements or duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.

  • Conduct roving patrols on foot, bicycles, and in security vehicles of Camden Yards Sports Complex, including stadiums, parking lots, outdoor plazas and sidewalks
  • Respond to all security needs, medical emergencies and other calls for service
  • Observe and report unsafe conditions,  unusual occurrences, and suspicious incidents that could potentially impact safety and security at the complex
  • Conduct security screening of vehicles, persons and bags to prevent prohibited or dangerous items from entering the facility
  • Provide first-class fan assistance to guests looking for directions or event information
  • Partner with internal and external security management and local law enforcement, as necessary
  • Provide escorts to and from cars in the parking lot when requested or deemed appropriate
  • Performs other duties and functions appropriate to the position as assigned and required by the security management team

  • Basic knowledge of general security practices and response procedures
  • Basic knowledge of building and life safety system alarm systems
  • Proficiency in using security-related tools and equipment, including two-way radios, office equipment, computer hardware and software, and video management software
  • Possess situational awareness skills
  • Have high ethical standards and high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to learn, read and write
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. 

  • Specific educational and experience requirements are set by this agency based on the essential job functions assigned to the position. 
  • Must successfully pass background screening, including criminal record checks (local, state and federal)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:  High School diploma or GED certification.

Experience:  One year of physical security experience (private security, military, law enforcement, corrections) within the last five years.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
Event security, military service, law enforcement or correctional officer experience preferred.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Environment —Work may be performed in a standard office setting with frequent travel to worksite locations to perform project management. Employee may be required to be present indoors or outdoors in areas of extreme heat or cold. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate but may be occasionally loud due to alarms, equipment noise, etc. Employee may be required to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.

Physical —Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to walk, stand, or sit for prolonged periods of time; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including the use of computer keyboards; to operate a vehicle to travel to various locations; to operate and use specialized equipment; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Work may also involve climbing ladders.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.
