Lee Coplan

Lee Coplan became a member of the Maryland Stadium Authority effective July 1, 2023. Mr. Coplan was a founding member and CEO of Hord Coplan Macht, the largest architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and planning firm based in the Baltimore area. The firm has a national practice with branch offices in Alexandria, Virginia, and Denver, Colorado, with a staff of more than 340 people.  He retired from Hord Coplan Macht in March of 2023.

Having started the firm’s Healthcare Studio, Mr. Coplan has served as principal-in-charge for a wide range of medical facility design projects. His long-standing commitment to health care design has yielded numerous successful projects. Hord Coplan Macht has designed significant projects at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center, University of Maryland Medical System’s Midtown Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital and most of the area’s health care systems.

Mr. Coplan received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1975. He is a registered architect in Maryland, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia. Mr. Coplan has served on the executive committee of the AIA Large Firm Roundtable and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.

As a leader in the community, Mr. Coplan’s participation on various boards of charitable and nonprofit organizations include The Aaron Straus and Lillie Straus Foundation, where he is currently serving as the Board of Trustees’ vice president. He is also president of the Camp Airy & Camp Louise Foundation and a member of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s Board of Visitors.  Mr. Coplan is currently serving as Chair of the LifeBridge Health Board.

Mr. Coplan is a resident of Ruxton, in Baltimore County, Maryland.
